Join us on the exciting adventure of Europe’s quest to explore the Cosmos!
The new fulldome planetarium show by the Regional Natural History Museum of Plovdiv explores some of the most iconic space missions of the European Space Agency (ESA), from our own Sun to the farthest reaches of the Universe and its birth.
The show presents ESA’s participation in big international efforts such as the International Space Station and the Hubble Telescope. The viewers will learn about the hugely successful robotic missions such as Planck and ATHENA, which explore the different parts of the electromagnetic spectrum, from microwaves to gamma rays. They will fly on a tour of the Solar System, starting at the Sun and the new Solar Orbiter mission, through the planets and exciting classic and upcoming planetary missions such as BepiColombo, Venus Express, ExoMars, JUICE, and Cassini. The amazing Rosetta mission will take viewers away to the comets and the outer reaches of the heliosphere. They will finally look to the future with technologically advanced upcoming missions to study the stars and exoplanets.
Fulldome Show ‘Europe’s Cosmic Quest’ is produced by the Regional Natural History Museum of Plovdiv, in collaboration with the European Space Agency (ESA). It is directed by critically acclaimed director and producer Theofanis Matsopoulos. It has been funded under a contract the Regional Natural History Museum of Plovdiv and ESA, as part of the ESA PECS program in Bulgaria.
This show gives us a virtual tour of space missions. Provides a summary of information on the history and future of European space exploration and an opportunity to look at various space telescopes and their purpose. The music of the film is wonderful.
