Description
Nominated for multiple prestigious awards (including a Canadian Academy Award), In the Land of the Flabby Schnook (French: Au pays du cancre mou) is a Canadian fulldome and virtual reality animated short film, directed by Francis Gélinas and released in 2020. This narrative film tells the story of a young boy who is afraid of the dark and his older sister’s efforts to help him overcome his fears by traversing imaginative dream worlds. She leads him through a succession of dreamlike scenes to conquer his fears for good.
Official selection at the Venice Biennale in the Venice VR Expanded section, and BIFAN 2021.
Winner of the Best Virtual Reality (VR) Film at the Santa Monica International Film Festival with In the Land of the Soft Dunce.
Winner of the Best of Earth 2021 which includes the following four festivals: Dome Fest West (Los Angeles), Dome under Festival (Melbourne), Fulldome UK (Plymouth), Jena Fulldome Festival (Jena), in the best short film category.
