Touching the Neolithic: Immersive Dome Installation
"Touching the Neolithic" is an immersive dome installation at the National Museum of Scotland.
The project is the result of a collaboration between the National Museum of Scotland, the University of Edinburgh and Pixogram.
A flying visit to Orkney’s Skara Brae allowed the creation of a precise, 30 million polygon, textured 3D model of the site using advanced photogrammetry techniques.
Visitors are actively encouraged to touch and handle accurate 3D printed artifacts that can control animations. Visitors are taken on a journey through space and time to Orkney’s world famous neolithic settlement Skara Brae.
Located in the Early People Gallery of the Museum, entry is free of charge.
