A complimentary Educator’s Guide is now available for the fulldome show, Little Major Tom: Into the Unknown. The newest fulldome show from Reef Distribution and Softmachine, this is an exciting story of teenaged astronauts who must complete a dangerous mission in order to warn people on Earth about a massive hurricane.

Educators will appreciate the complimentary educator guide, developed for grades 3 to 6, which includes detailed information about:

• Life in space
• The Moon
• Satellites and space junk
• Hurricanes
• Climate and climate change

Multiple activities are included in the guide, such as creating an action plan for climate protection, taking an astronaut quiz, and completing a wordsearch. The guide is available in both English and German.

Little Major Tom: Into the Unknown was created exclusively for fulldome theaters. In the show, teenaged friends Tom and Stella live, laugh, and train at Space Base 1, honing their astronaut skills as they float above Earth. Stella is ready to dive into any challenge, while Tom is panicking at the thought of completing his first-ever spacewalk. But when a massive hurricane begins forming on Earth, Tom must put aside his fears and accept a difficult space mission. If Tom and Stella fail, the consequences could be devastating for them — and for Earth.

This fantastic fulldome show weaves meticulously researched facts about climate change and our future in space with engaging characters, including an AI-powered robot cat nicknamed Pluty. Kids of all ages will relate to Tom and Stella as the characters come to terms with their dreams and disappointments, accept responsibilities and consequences, and become better friends and teammates. Little Major Tom incorporates themes of teamwork, resilience, problem-solving, environmental awareness, and the wonders of space exploration, while inspiring audiences to dream big and make a difference in the world.

Dr. Peter Popp of Reef Distribution and Softmachine and musician Peter Schilling, singer of the international hit song “Major Tom (Coming Home),” teamed up to create this crowd-pleasing show. Little Major Tom was inspired by the popular German children’s book series, Der kleine Major Tom, which Schilling co-created. The show also features Schilling’s hit song, “Major Tom (Coming Home).” Bolstered by the successful book series and the popular song that inspired the show, Little Major Tom appeals to children, school groups, and families alike.
