Introducing FDDB Images!
Today we are introducing a new section on FDDB: Images.
Since the Fulldome Database is all about planetariums and digital dome theatres, this new section specifically lists only images that can be used in the dome without distortions: fisheye photos, spherical panoramas, cylindrical panoramas, and more.
Being a database, images can be browsed by a variety of categories and filters which make it easy to find what you're looking for. Users will also be able to create personal collections where they can save the content they liked the most.
If you already have an FDDB account, you can start downloading any listed image right away as well as upload your best shots to be shared with the planetarium community. In both cases, full credits are always provided along with specific information under which the license is made available.
In a time where many planetariums have been forced to temporarily close because of the COVID-19 virus outbreak, we decided to speed up the development of this new section to bring a new tool to the community that we hope could help those – especially small planetariums with limited budgets – who are investing their time in producing new live planetarium shows for when their venue will open again.
So start exploring the new IMAGES section and have fun!
Once again, please do not underestimate the risk of the virus and be safe!
