Job Opportunity: Full Dome Producer in New Zealand
The Otago Museum in New Zealand’s beautiful South Island is seeking a passionate and creative person to help create inspiring, exciting and engaging multi-media shows for the new full-dome planetarium Discovery Dome.
This 9 meter diameter tilted dome, scheduled to open in October 2015, will contain 65 seats and a state of the art Digistar 5 full-dome system.
As Full Dome Producer you will be responsible the full dome projection system including operation, content production, setup, control systems, general maintenance, and training. You will enhance visitor experience by presenting live, original and pre-packaged astronomy and other programs for a variety of audiences.
The role will utilise different graphic programs, cameras, Adobe products and Digistar 5 software. You will work with staff, vendors, universities and the local community to create original scripts and concepts, creating appealing, world class planetarium shows.
To be successful in this role you will have:
- a graduate degree in Astronomy or a related field
- experience in a planetarium or in a programme production role
- experience with Digistar 5 and other software for the development of planetarium programmes
- excellent communication skills and a proven ability to produce engaging scientific content
